Know your age group and what they’re into
Children and young people grow so quickly and each generation is different from the last. Training in this area will help you discover a bit more about the age group you work with – what they’re into, the technology and devices they use, their school life… Whether you’re new to children’s or youth work of whether you’re a long-term volunteer, you’re bound to discover something new and useful.
These training sessions take a look at current trends in children’s and youth culture, and the factions and splits within those trends. They’ll focus a little on the pressures that children and young people come under and the major issues they face. There may well be homework, but it will probably include watching the TV and surfing the web!
